It took a second or third reading before they realized it froze the water. I don’t even think the caster knew the implications at first. The freezing sphere interaction was completely unexpected. Like the first room is designed to be a hard kill for anyone without AoE abilities, and the first build presented is an AoE damage specialist. I think it is fair to say that the gauntlet doesn't really interact with the strengths and weaknesses of casters, or at least the nuke wizard. It would be about as fair a challege but the nuke mage would have a much harder time due to the targeting rules and greater invisibility, shield spell hard counter, and counterspell as a shutdown effect on the spell array.Īnd it isn't like that would be a no effort fight for a martial, as they have some strong damage and mobility options. Like say if round 2 was a group of Mages (NPC stat blocks). Enemies specificly weak to force damage in part 2 when the build is deliberately trying to get optimum damage out of magic missile. Kill boxing part 1 with Freezing Sphere and Sickening radiance. But the the nuke wizard has alot of of specific things to the build even most wizards wouldn't have that are particularly effective against both encounters. (And still rewards choices like divine smite, wild shape, or subtle spell so it is not flatening the curve).Ī slowing effect would be another good one, as messing with reactions messes up alot of characters but also creates weirdness for characters reliant on mobility or reaction spell defenses like shield.Īnd again, this isnt really a strike against the gauntlet in concept. The flooding trap feels like an opportunity for one, fill the room with water. But it is more an observation that there is alot of things in the gauntlet to inhibit movement and attacks, but not so much spellcasting (pretty much only the poltergeiststs). Naturally, situational features will excel in specific situations, and I think that's fine. No more or less thought went into it than that.ĪFAIK, the creator of the gauntlet didn't even know what was gonna be run through it. I could be misremembering since it was several months ago at this point.ĥ feet of water was just to let everyone breath (not sure what will happen with gnomes and halflings etc). But that doesn't mean monk is as strong as nuke wizard or better than zealot, just that it is awkwardly strong with water access. The freezing sphere interaction was completely unexpected. I feel like that the high amounts of water is strangely beneficial to nuke wizard (as Freezing sphere is unusually strong with it and enables a kill box strategy as used in the video), like I think Way of Four Elements monk would have a pretty easy time with this encounter because they could just cut off the sharks with shape the flowing river. But 6-7ft is not, (start requiring strength checks to move, and cause drowning as an issue, including interfering with verbal components). The website was then launched in 2015 after the client disappeared. My primary concern on it is I don't see why about 4-5ft deep would be reasonable (enough to probably invoke underwater combat). G told Daily Beast that they wanted to build a platform containing videos that gradually became more extreme so that "by the end of it, you'd 'seen it all and are probably desensitized to anything else on the internet". The website was actually created by an anonymous person only known as "G" who originally built the site for a client in 2010. The videos can be found on Reddit and the Run The Gauntlet website which claims to contain the "most vile, puke inducing, hard to watch videos on the internet". It's nothing new though, there's articles on the disturbing challenge that date back to 2015. However, it's also worth noting that some clips aren't real and have been created to incite fear. The videos gradually get more and more extreme as the levels ascend.Īccording to Urban Dictionary, some of the clips include things like a dog being skinned alive and a video titled "three guys one hammer". There doesn't appear to be a particular reason why people are doing this, but the challenge has 20 levels and each level features a video more disturbing than the last. The Gauntlet Challenge, or Run The Gauntlet Challenge, involves watching the most disgusting videos on the internet in the hope of reaching the last and most extreme video. What is the Gauntlet Challenge on TikTok?
